While looking into deals in my email box, I saw this one from Bluemercury – Subject: ‘Important Information Regarding Purchases Made on bluemercury website.’ It’s a data breach! Check your email!

It’s not good, but at least Bluemercury informed us. Data breach can happen to a lot of companies. They are the victims too.

Aptos has informed us that attackers had access to the following online data associated with orders made before September 12, 2016:

• First and last name,

• Address,

• Phone number,

• Email address, and

• Debit or credit card number with expiration dates.

What Can You Do?
To protect yourself from the possibility of financial fraud (that is, criminals using your card information to make fraudulent purchases), we recommend you immediately contact your credit or debit card company and inform them that your card information may have been compromised. Your bank or credit card provider will suggest appropriate steps to protect your account. As always, you should remain vigilant for incidents of fraud by reviewing your bank and card statements regularly, and immediately reporting any suspicious activity to your bank or credit card provider.  Payment card rules generally provide that cardholders are not responsible for unauthorized charges reported in a timely manner.
