My Revlon brush purchase

I bought this Revlon Kabuki Brush for $4.75 at Target online store and took advantage the free $10 gift card with $30 beauty and personal care purchase about 2 months ago. It’s currently sold out at Target.

I returned this brush back to Target. It got strong chemical smell even after being washed and aired out for several days. It was shedding and scratchy. I don’t think I’ll buy any Revlon brushes anymore.

My body sunscreens reviews: Supergoop! and La Roche Posay

Here are three body sunscreen lotions I am using and finished. They are all chemical sunscreens so there are no white cast issues.

  • Supergoop! Forever Young Body Butter with Sea Buckthorn SPF 40 PA+++ – $34/5.7 oz
    • I am currently using it. I like it the best among the three! The texture is light weight and smooth, absorbs easy, moisturizing but not greasy. It feels like a regular body lotion! It smells good and not strong. I will buy it again!
  • La Roche Posay Anthelios 60 Face & Body Melt In Sunscreen Milk – $35.99/5 oz
    • I finished this tube then started to use Supergoop! Body Butter SPF 40, I know right away that I like the Supergoop! Body Butter better. This La Roche Posay sunscreen is good and protective but heavier than Supergoop body butter and not as melt in well as Supergoop body butter. I will only buy it when there is a really good deal.
  • Supergoop! Everyday Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 50 – $32/7.5 oz
    • My husband finished this tube. This one has a slight smell which is similar to the Shiseido sunscreen that I returned to Sephora because of the smell. So, I gave it to my husband, it doesn’t bother him or he just didn’t notice it. It’s the one on the right in the following picture. Either his hands are rough or the ink is weak.

My sample review: Clarins Super Restorative Redefining Body Care

This Clarins Super Restorative Redefining Body Care for Abdomen & Waist is a free sample with a purchase. I finished the tube and won’t buy the full size.

This full size body lotion is 6.9 oz for $96, pricy! It got really nice light weight texture, moisturizing and absorbs easily. It smells good and but also strong. Sometimes I could even smell the alcohol from it! It supposed to firm up your skin, but I didn’t see much of a difference.

My REN Satin Perfection BB Cream Sunscreen review

Ren Skincare sent me their REN Satin Perfection BB Cream Sunscreen($38 at Sephora) to try out. Review is not required on my blog.

I finished this tube completely and like this product! It is a lightweight and skin friendly BB cream. I treat all the BB cream as lightweigt foundation with bonus of sunscreen. I don’t use BB cream alone as a moisturizer or sunscreen lotion becuase the amount you need for BB cream is just not enough as sunscreen and moisturizer.ren bb cream.JPGren bb cream 2.JPG

Pros:

  • It is silicone-free and a mineral suncreen(SPF15) lotion!
  • Lightweight and very sheer. It won’t hide away your freckles but will even out your skin tone and give you a natural finish. Good for summer use.

Cons:

  • Only one shade
  • SPF is not high enough, I wish SPF30 or higher
  • Texture is a bit uneven, shake before use

My Aveeno Protect+Hydrate Lotion SPF 70 review

I bought this Aveeno Protect+Hydrate Lotion SPF 70($9.99 at Target) and finished it. It’s a chemical sunscreen. I mainly use it on my hands and arms before I am out. I always have a sunscreen near the door so that I won’t forget to put it on before I leave.

This is great to use it as hand cream since it’s not greasy at all. It feels moisturizing and absorbs well. The high SPF is a big plus! I will buy it again.

My Perricone MD Face Finishing Moisturizer Tint SPF 30 review

I bought this Perricone MD Face Finishing Moisturizer Tint SPF 30($75) and finished it. I won’t buy it again only for one reason – it’s a bit too dark for me. If you use liquid foundation in light or lighter shade, I don’t recommend it. However, this is still a great moisturizer and sunscreen, I would buy it if it comes with a lighter shade or not tinted.

Pros:

  • Lightweight, absorbs easy, smooth, good for oily or combination skin
  • Physical sunscreen(Titanium Dioxide 4.2%) SPF30, no white cast on the face like other minerals sunscreens do

Cons:

  • Only one shade
  • 2 oz for $75, pricy!

My last three facial toners – Mario Badescu, No7 and Clinique

I finished off the Mario Badescu Seaweed Cleansing Lotion, then poured the two bottles of No7 Beautiful Skin Refreshing Toner into the empty Clinique Clarifying Lotion 2 16.5 oz bottle.

I am currently using the No7 toner in a Clinique toner bottle.

my toners.JPG

  1. Mario Badescu Seaweed Cleansing Lotion – this is a good toner and contains no paraben. But I won’t buy it again because the fragrance is too strong for me. I prefer a toner with no smell or very lightly scented.
  2. No7 Beautiful Skin Refreshing Toner – I like it. It makes my skin feel so clean and has no strong smell at all. It is also gentle. It does contain paraben which means I keep on searching and trying the new toners.
  3. Clinique Clarifying Lotion 2 16.5 oz bottle – I probably won’t buy or only buy the smaller size in the future. This toner does a really good job to clean the skin but it’s also a bit harsh. It got a strong alcohol smell. I like the dispenser of the bottle(16.5 oz) very much. You just press down the top of the bottle with the cotton pad a few times, then I am ready to go. This is a convenient and no liquid mess way to damp the cotton pad.

My bareMinerals Perfecting Face Brush review

The bareMinerals Perfecting Face Brush is $14 at Ulta.com right now. It’s 50% off and the sale will end tomorrow 3/18. Some of you might receive the $10 off $40 bareMinerals purchase unique promo code which will expire on 3/25. Good deal if to stack these two together.

I own the Perfecting Face Brush. It came from a bareMinerals value kit I bought last year. Let me tell you what I think about this brush.

How I use it:

  • add 1 or 2 drop foundation in the well
  • gently apply like with a foundation brush
  • then start to blend

Tip of using:

  • Avoid using liquidy BB cream or foundation with this brush. Or the liquids will sink into the brush and the brush will eat your pricey liquids away.
  • Wash it often, I have to stop using after 3 uses, or it will give me streaks easy.

Pro:

  • Very soft but firm enough to work with
  • My hands don’t touch the foundation. I feel it is an efficient and quick way to apply makeup. It blends well as long as the brush is clean.

Con: Pricey for $28.

But for $14, I recommend it!

My Mario Badescu Hand Cream review

I bought this Mario Badescu Hand Cream(4 oz for $8) from Nordstrom and used it all up. I like it being lightweight and moisturizing. The scent is nice but also could be a bit strong to some of you. I prefer to use it before going to bed. And, it’s affordable.

2 things I don’t like about it:

  • it’s in a jar. Now you can find this in a tube at Ulta for $8, but 1 oz less.
  • I just found out that it contains paraben.

Will I buy it again? Most likely NOT.

My Kate Somerville EradiKate To-Go Acne Treatment review

This Kate Somerville EradiKate To-Go Acne Treatment is a free sample with a purchase.

The full size is $40 for 30 swabs at Sephora.

It might work a bit to me, but not good enough for me to buy the full size. It’s a little tinted. It does smell, just like a lot other acne treatment medications.

My suggestions:

  • This is good for travel if it works for you.
  • Try the sample before buying the full size.
  • If you got acne all over your face, I do not recommend it, 30 swabs for $40 => pricy, you will use them up very quickly. Getting the liquid in the bottle is a better deal.

My Simple Eye Makeup Remover Pads review

I received this Simple Eye Makeup Remover Pads as a free gift with a purchase. It is full size. Target is selling it for $5.49.

I do not recommend it. The texture is rough and the eye makeup didn’t come off easy. A cotton pad + Lancome bi facil is much better!

My sample review: Murad Oil Control Mattifier SPF 15

This Murad Oil Control Mattifier SPF 15(0.3 oz) is a free sample with a purchase. The full size is 1.7 oz for $39.5 at Sephora.

This is a chemical sunscreen.

This is a quite popular item. It got 4 stars and 1740 reviews at Sephora right now. It did give me a matte finish but I couldn’t finish this sample and I won’t buy the full size.

Because:

  • the texture is thick and sticky
  • the SPF is lower than 30. If a lotion serves as a sunscreen, I prefer it’s higher than SPF 30.

My sample review: Biore Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser

This Biore Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser 1 oz is a free sample with a purchase. The full size is 6.7 oz, $5.82 at Walmart, $5.99 at Target, and $7.49 at Ulta.

BIORÉ Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser.JPG

It really cleans my face well, but I don’t like the minty cool feeling on my face after using this cleanser. It’s a personal preference, I don’t but you might like that.

I finished up this tube by washing my beautyblender sponge which works quite well!

I won’t buy the full size. If I receive it again as a free gift, I’d be happy to use it to wash my makeup tools!

My Glysomed hand cream review

I bought this Glysomed hand cream 1.7 oz for $3 from drugstore.com a while ago. You can also find it at Amazon.

It’s affordable and got good ratings. I finished this tube but I will not buy it again. Becuase it’s too much silicone and made my hands so slippery that I couldn’t even twist a door knob after applying it. If you got a pair of busy hands, I do not recommend it.
