I’d like to explain to you how to earn and calculate the Ulta points since I’ve been asked several times. Use me as an example, I am a Diamond member so I earn 1.5 points per dollar spent when there is no other points bonus offers. This 1.5 points is base points.
Base points per dollar spent:
- Regular member: 1/$1
- Platinum member: 1.25/$1
- Diamond member: 1.5/$1
We can stack multipliers. Today I have:
- 5x pts Clinique
- 5x pts bonus all purchases
My cart -> $50 Clinique, earning 475 points
Points I am earning on this order(Diamond members): 50 x 1.5 base pts + 50 x 4 Clinique purchase pts + 50 x 4 bonus pts on all purchase = 475 pts (9.5/$1 spent)
Platinum members: 50 x1.25 base pts + 50 x 4 Clinique purchase pts + 50 x 4 bonus = 462.50 pts
Regular members: 50 x 1 base pts 50 x 4 Clinique purchase pts + 50 x 4 bonus = 450 pts
Based on this chart?: 475 points = $29.93 when I redeem my 2000 points. It’s like 60% off! That’s why we love the 10x points Platinum Appreciation Day that usually happens at the end of the August!

Can I earn base and bonus points on the same item/transaction?
Yes, members can earn base and bonus points on the same product/transaction. For example, members will earn 100 base points on a $100 qualifying purchase. If a “2X” multiplier offer is also applicable, the total points earned would be 200 (calculated as follows: 100 base points + 100 bonus points = 200 points). Say hello to points galore!
Can bonus points offers be combined?
On really pretty days, Ultamate Rewards may also offer a chance to combine two or more bonus offers on a qualifying purchase. When this occurs, base points are earned only once. For example, if a member buys $25 worth of a skin care product when we offer 2X points for that product, and another offer for 3X points on your entire purchase, the total points earned would be 100 points. Let’s do the beauty math: 25 base points + 25 bonus points from the 2X product specific bonus offer + 50 bonus points from the 3X on your entire purchase = 100 points.
